Sometime last month I won my very first giveaway! I have never won anything anywhere before. So I was very happy and excited that Crossview had selected me as the winner of her giveaway! Thanks Crossview! (Now you know why she was not "allowed" to answer)

My Words

Last Wednesday over at My Home Among The Hills I saw this meme and have asked to play along. Here's how it suppose to work:

I asked to be given my words, upon receiving of such words I am supposed to put my thinking hat on and relate those words to my life or something in that nature. If you want to play along, leave a comment saying you would like to play and I will find you your five words. If you don't want to play, you can still leave a comment.

Alright, lets get to those words:


Wander - We have been pretty lucky that Samantha can be left off-leash almost all of the time. She will wander a little but never far. June on the other hand has to be on the leash. Not because she will take off and run but because she will run after a squirrel or bunny or run towards a dog(not to attack but to say hi). That's dangerous because there might be cars coming or who know how the other dog's owner would react. So she would have to be on the leash.

Elegant - I never have any(at least that's what I think) decorating sense. Our place is totally not decorated at all. Don't get me wrong, my place is not messy or dirty, it's just plain due to lack of decorations. But if I were to pick a decorating style, I would pick a country cozy look over an elegant or sophisticated look.

Fantastic - Years ago I used to go to Fantastic Sams to get my hair cut and I even got a perm from there once. But I don't go to Fantastic Sams or any other hair salon anymore. I keep my hair straight, less maintainance that way. All I have to do in the morning is to brush it and that is it. No jell, no spray, nothing. I do trim it every once in a while but I do that at home. Hubby does that for me. I just don't justify paying whatever that they charge for a hair cut just to get a trim of less than 3".

Fruit - I try to eat at least 1 serving of fruit everyday. I'm really not much of a fruit eater. The fruits have to be sweet, otherwise I won't eat it. I can't stand eating sour fruits, even if it's slightly tart, I won't eat it. I do love to bake with fruits.

Radical - Do you know what Free Radicals are? Free radicals are atoms or groups of atoms with an odd (unpaired) number of electrons and can be formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules. This means, when these radicals formed, will cause damaged to DNA or cells, which leads to the possible development of cancer.

I received this email a while ago and had accidentally deleted it. Recently Allison at Reflections of a Dog Mom posted it at her blog and I was glad that she did.

A Dog's Purpose? (from a 6-year-old).

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.


I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.


The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker 's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion.

We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ''I know why.'' Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.


He said,''People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?'' The Six-year-old continued,''Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.''



Oh another note, WVFarmGirl presented me with an award. For this award, I would have to first link it back to the person who gave me the award and then share 10 things about me that are true. Thank you WVFarmGirl! I am honored!

1) I love dogs, Golden Retrievers are my favortite but I love them all.

2) I cry easily. I cry while watching a sad part of a movie, I cry while reading a sad part of a book, I cry while watching the ASPCA commercial, I cry while reading about someone losing their dogs...

3) I am a loner, well, kinda. I would actually prefer staying at home than going out with friends.

4) I hate clothes shopping at the store. I see it as a waste of time because I usually can't find anything that I like.

5) I talk to my dogs all the time.

6) I used to hate cheese but now I love them!

7) I don't get drunk in public. I always have a fear that I will do something stupid or get in trouble so I will not let it get there.

8) I used to speak 3 languagues: Mandarin, English & Malay. But now I am only fluent in English and getting a bit rusty in Mandarin.

9) I heart camping.

10) I don't eat veal.

The Bucket List

The Bucket List is a comedy-drama starting Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. The movie is about 2 terminally ill men going on a road trip with a wish list of things to do before they "kick the bucket".

Just recently, my friend Lacy tagged me in facebook reagarding "The Bucket List". In the facebook bucket list version, you put an X next to a list of things that you have done during your lifetime. I did that list in facebook but I'm changing it a bit here. Here's my version of "The Busket List":

Retrievers - I love all retrievers especially Golden Retrievers. I'm sure you know by now that I have 2 wonderful and very goofy Golden Retrievers, Samantha & June. I love them very very much.

RazorFamilyFarms - My blogger friend, Lacy's blog. She blogs about simple living, country lifestyle, her husband and her children, her animals(golden retrievers Logan & Dustin, cat Remington, chicken, gunny bunny and so on), organic gardening, food, soap making....Her blog rocks like KISS!!!

Roti - Roti is an unleavened flat bread in these languages: Malay, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali.....The one I grew up with is roti in the Malay language, which means bread in general. But here I am refering to Roti Canai (pronounced "chanai," not "kanai") , which is a type of flatbread found in Malaysia, often sold in Mamak stalls. You can read all about Roti Canai here.

Rascal Flatts - I normally listen to Rock n' Roll music but occasionally I would listen to country music. There are a few country artists whom I like and Rascal Flatts is one of them.

Rome - I would love to visit Rome or anywhere in Italy someday.

Rings - I don't wear many rings or jewelry. In fact the only jewelry I wear are my rings. I wear my engagement ring, wedding ring, 1 year anniversary wedding ring and another wedding ring we got in Aruba. We had a little wedding ceremony 3 years after we got married becuase my parents were in Aruba with us and they didn't get to attend our first ceremony.

Rugelach - I love this Jewish pastry. The butter/cream cheese dough is very flaky and melt in your mouth. The different fillings can include raisins, walnuts, cinnamon, chocolate or apricot preserves which are rolled up inside. I personally love cinnamon and also raspberry jam fillings.

Round - Round zucchinis, I think they are just so cute!

Recipes - I enjoy looking up recipes and I love trying out new recipes.

Ranch - Ranch dressing that is. This is my favorite salad dressing along with Blue Cheese and Parmesan Peppercorn dressing.

A Christmas Meme

Sorry friends for being MIA since Thanksgiving. I have been very busy with work and it probably will be this way until after the new year. I have tried to stop by a few blogs to visit, some I have commented but some I didn't. I will try to visit more often.

Just wanted to share with you this cute little email from my friend.

Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cou gar, the mus tang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a Dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good Dog.
1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.
2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.
3. The Litter Box is not a cookie jar.
4.The sofa is not a "face towel".
5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff..
6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.
7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying 'hello'.
8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table .
9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after.
10. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt.
11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch.
12. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.
