Steamboat
The steamboat I am refering to today is not what you have in mind. I'm not refering to the steamer or steam-powered boats. I am talking about food. Steamboat, also known as Asian Hot Pot, is a type of stew/soup which consists of a simmering pot of stock(it can be chicken stock, beef, seafood, vegetable or even just water) at the center of the dining table with all different kinds of food(uncooked) surrounding it. The cooking pot is fueled by propane or hot coal or electric. The ingredients are placed in the hot pot and cooked at the table. The cooked food is normally eaten with dipping sauces.
Here is an example of a hot pot fueled by hot coal. The pot consists of a few sections. The center(chimney like) part is where the hot coals go to heat the pot/stock. The middle(wider part) is where the stock and food go. The bottom part is where the ashes go.
Here's a picture from a steamboat dinner at my parents house. As you can see, the cooking pot is different than that one from the picture above. This is an electric pot. I'm sure if you have an electric skillet at home, you can use that.

Let's talk about what kind of food to serve at a steamboat dinner. Well, any kind you want. Whatever suits your fancy. Meats(chicken, pork, beef) are normally sliced thin that way it only takes a few minutes to cook. You can serve shrimp, fish, calamari, shellfish...
You can serve all kinds of vegetables: napa cabbage, bok choy, spinach, bean sprout, mushrooms, onions, green beans...You can also serve tofu. There is normally some kind of noodles: rice vermicelli, celofane noodles, rice noodles, udon noodles, spaghetti(if you can't find asian noodles).

Most Malaysians love spicy food, so there is almost always soy sauce with lots of chopped chilli pepper.
There you have it. So next time when your kids ask you what's for dinner or if you are having a small dinner party, why not consider making your own Steamboat or Asian Hot Pot. It's so easy and you don't have to spend hours in the kitchen cooking. Just prep your ingredients and you can cook and eat at the table with your family and friends.

Golden Friday
Thank you efurryone fur your comments from last Friday. We are doing much better. Mom still has to spray that thing on me(June) and I still run away from her. Sometimes I even hide behind daddy's chair or put my paws up on daddy while he's sitting in his chair and ask him to save me from evil mommy.
Guess mommy must have felt bad for spraying me, she gave me the peanut butter jar!!! Oooo, I love peanut butter!

Golden Friday
Sorry we've been MIA for a while. Mom has been slacking in helping us wif uploading photos. We really have to get on her case about that.
A few weeks ago we posted this picture asking if you know who's tail it is. Well, if you guessed June's tail, you are right! It is Junie's fluffy tail! Here's a big kiss from June to all who guessed it right...MMMUUUUAAAAHHHHH!
Well, nothing much to report lately. Mom told you about our new food, which we love!. Samantha wasn't too sure about it at furst but now she loves it.
We both have a little boo boo lately. I(June) have a little infection in the pee-pee area and it's a little swolen. I'm now on antibiotic(oral) and also on spray. I really really do not like the spray because it hurts. When mommy comes close wif the spray, I run away from her.
I(Samantha) have a little crystal in my urine so I'm now on a special diet until it clears. Please keep your paws/fingers crossed fur us fur a speedy recovery.
Have a wonderwoof weekend!
Hugs,
Samantha & June

Funny June
We have decided to get the girls some Holistic dog food instead of letting them eat the normal dog food. So on Sunday, we went to Petco(without the girls) and bought them a small bag of Blue Buffalo Wilderness(Duck & Sweet Potato flavor).
Of course when we got home, the girls just had to sniff us all over and sniff the bag to check out what it's about. Hubby opened the bag and gave them both a handful to try. June(usually the picky one) chomped it down right away, Samantha(who usually inhales her food), on the other hand, sniff and then left without touching the food.
Then at dinner time, hubby went to feed the girls and started to scoop the new food in Samantha's bowl first(June was already waiting) then proceed to scoop into June's bowl. But at the same time June saw that Samantha's bowl was filled but not hers, right away she moved over to Samantha's bowl trying to eat from it! Now all this happen within a few seconds between scoops(from the dog food container to the bowls)! It was pretty funny seeing June did that. She's normally the picky one and when we feed them, she would only eat when she feels like it. Samantha is the one who would eat as soon as the food hits the bowl and finish before June does. But this time, June ate all her food before Samantha did! She must really loves her new food!
