I'm not saying that don't eat meat anymore and become a vegatarian. I for one will never "survive" being a vegatarian, I just love to eat meat. But think about it next time when you pick up at package of chicken or steak or ground meat at the supermarket.
After watching Food, Inc., it gives me more reasons to eat local and buy local.

My husband hunts as did my father before him. I have always wondered why people have such a hard time with that. The animal gets to live a lovely, natural life until one day he just drops dead. So much better than the "life" so many of these farmed animals have to suffer. We also have a friend who raises cattle. We go in with another couple and buy half a cow sometimes. We know that cow has just hung out in a nice, central Texas pasture until "the day".
I could eat a lot less meat than I do, but the hubs is a bona fide meat eater. So is my son. We do the best we can as for the source.
I have been avoiding watching it, even though I want to, because I'm worried about some of the imagery that might be in it. Images of animals in horrid situations, being abused, etc, haunt me. I mean in a really really bad way, it can impact my daily life.
We buy locally produced, organic, no hormone ground beef. I'm working on finding other options for the rest of the meat we eat.

I'm with Julie... My husband is a huunter and it's so much more humane. A "circle of life" kind of thing.
I don't think I want to know!! Ignorance is sometimes bliss :O)
Going to watch it on Netflix online. I try to buy local meat as well. It's sometimes hard to find and more expensive, but at least I can ask the farmer how they raised their cows, chickens or turkeys.
You should also read "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver. Another eye-opener about genetically modified and commercially grown food....
