This and That

To My Southern Friends:

Do you know that each time you do a post about your garden and show pictures of your garden, I am green with envy?
Do you know that when I see that you have little tomatoes on your tomato plants or little peppers on your pepper plants I get very jealous?
Do you also know that when I see that your potato plants are this tall(making a gesture with my hand), I wonder when will mine get to be that tall?

Your Northern Friend,
YD

Everything has been planted in the garden. This year is my first time trying heirloom tomatoes, so I really can't wait to try them. Now you know that I have started my seeds about 2 months ago and I have got quite a few heirloom tomato varieties. Unfortunately 2 out of my 3 trays of seedlings were destroyed. No, the dogs didn't do it. It was my own fault and I won't get into the details. The 2 destroyed trays contained mostly my tomatoes. I was so bumped! :(
Luckyly there were some heirloom tomatoes in the 3rd tray and the local nursery sells some heirloom varieties as well.

So here's a new list of what's in the garden:

Tomatoes: These are the ones I started from seeds - Yellow Pear, Cherokee Purple, Beef Master. These were purchased from the nursery - Hungarian Hearts, Roma, Sugar Snack, Celebrity & Pink Red. Then I found out that I had some volunteer seeds from the old garden so I dug them up and transplanted them in the new garden. Who knows what those would be? Last year I had some hybrids, it would be really interesting to find out what they are!

Corn: Honey and Cream - this is my first time planting corn.

Zukes: Cue Ball - these are the cute round ones.

Cukes: Northern Pickling and I also found some volunteer seeds. I just left them be and see what I get later in the season.

Winter Squash: Sweet Dumpling, first time trying these.

Potatoes: Norland Dark Red and Yukon Gold.

Eggplant: Thai Yellow Egg, free seeds from Baker Creek.

Hot Peppers: Jalapeno and Italian Pepperoncini.

Cabbage & Cauliflower: first time planting these and I don't know what variety these are.

Broccoli: My co-worker bought too many for her garden so she gave me 2 plants.

Onions: Yellow Stuttgutter

Asian Veggies: Bok Choy and Napa Cabbage

Garlic: German Extra Hardy (In old garden area)
Lettuce: Mesclun Mix (In old garden area)
Strawberries: Ozark, Robinson & Quinault (In old garden area)
Carrots: Purple Haze
Herbs: Parsley, Basil, Rosemary & Oregano
Sorry I have not taken anymore pictures of my garden.
So, what's growing in your garden? Do you have a must have favorite variety?

You can look at my windowsill full of little tomatoes and be jealous. But know this: our tomatoes are about played out. If they aren't on the vine now, we will probably have to wait until fall. But we do get a second crop then!

I'm jealous of the size of your garden, so I guess it all even out in the end. : )

Khyra: You are welcome to share our bounties.

Chester: I'm sure that's what Samantha & June would do too. :)

Crossview: You are right, it won't be long. I just can't wait!

NY Bully Rats: Sorry, doggies are not allowed in my garden. Samantha & June don't like it very much. They want to help me dig. :)

Kim: Thank you. Yes, we are starting to see some progress. Just wish that plants can grow in the winter time.

Mrs JP: Thank you.

Kathryn: Yikes on frost! Luckyly none here but it's still get pretty cold at night. Further up in the Adirondacks, they got frost too!

Lena: Thank you. I know, there is good and bad about having cooler weather. But there are a lot more things that you can grow.

Paco & Milo: The girls are not allow in the garden either. They like to dig too much. They don't much care to eat the veggie.

Julie: I guess it's even. But you know one thing I don't envy you - the heat! Funny, I came from a tropical country and the first state in the US I lived in was Louisiana and I don't like the heat. Go figure...
