This and That

To My Southern Friends:


Do you know that each time you do a post about your garden and show pictures of your garden, I am green with envy?
Do you know that when I see that you have little tomatoes on your tomato plants or little peppers on your pepper plants I get very jealous?
Do you also know that when I see that your potato plants are this tall(making a gesture with my hand), I wonder when will mine get to be that tall?

Everything has been planted in the garden. This year is my first time trying heirloom tomatoes, so I really can't wait to try them. Now you know that I have started my seeds about 2 months ago and I have got quite a few heirloom tomato varieties. Unfortunately 2 out of my 3 trays of seedlings were destroyed. No, the dogs didn't do it. It was my own fault and I won't get into the details. The 2 destroyed trays contained mostly my tomatoes. I was so bumped! :(

Luckyly there were some heirloom tomatoes in the 3rd tray and the local nursery sells some heirloom varieties as well.

So here's a new list of what's in the garden:

Tomatoes: These are the ones I started from seeds - Yellow Pear, Cherokee Purple, Beef Master. These were purchased from the nursery - Hungarian Hearts, Roma, Sugar Snack, Celebrity & Pink Red. Then I found out that I had some volunteer seeds from the old garden so I dug them up and transplanted them in the new garden. Who knows what those would be? Last year I had some hybrids, it would be really interesting to find out what they are!

Corn: Honey and Cream - this is my first time planting corn.

Zukes: Cue Ball - these are the cute round ones.

Cukes: Northern Pickling and I also found some volunteer seeds. I just left them be and see what I get later in the season.

Winter Squash: Sweet Dumpling, first time trying these.

Potatoes: Norland Dark Red and Yukon Gold.

Eggplant: Thai Yellow Egg, free seeds from Baker Creek.

Hot Peppers: Jalapeno and Italian Pepperoncini.

Cabbage & Cauliflower: first time planting these and I don't know what variety these are.

Broccoli: My co-worker bought too many for her garden so she gave me 2 plants.

Onions: Yellow Stuttgutter

Asian Veggies: Bok Choy and Napa Cabbage

Garlic: German Extra Hardy (In old garden area)

Lettuce: Mesclun Mix (In old garden area)

Strawberries: Ozark, Robinson & Quinault (In old garden area)

Carrots: Purple Haze

Herbs: Parsley, Basil, Rosemary & Oregano

Sorry I have not taken anymore pictures of my garden.

I drink a lot of water everyday. Most of the time it's just plain cold water but from time to time I would add a lemon wedge. I have never thought of adding fruits! I am going to give this a try.

Oh miiiiiinnnnnnt....I've got plans for you.....

p/s: There will be no Golden Friday post this week. The girls have been very busy.....napping.

Wordless Wednesday

Golden Friday

Woof woof my fury friends(and humans too), June blogging today. I am so proud of myself this week and I really really had to share.

You see, mom and dad likes to buy this big bag of bones(doggie biscuits) from Tractor Supply store for us. We love those yummy yummy bones. Now the bag is big so it wouldn't fit in the cupboard in the kitchen. So they store the bag of bones in their bedroom closet. The other day dad went in there to change and he left the closet door wide open. Guess what? Free buffet for me! Yup, I helped myself to some bones. It was awesome!!!

Are you guys proud of me or what?

Hey, YD here, I was brushing my teeth in the bathroom and I heard some crunching sound. Upon further "investigation", I found out that it was June enjoying her bones. So I left the bedroom and went to "hide" in the bathroom just to see if she would do it again. Sure enough, as soon as she finished one, she went right back in the closet for another helping! I just had to take a video of this, so of course I left the closet door open(still), so that I could "catch" her in the act. See for yourself:

Garden Update

I realized I have not post anything about my garden in a while. Here's a little update:
We have moved the garden from the back yard to the front yard area. It is now bigger and better! Hubby was hard at work grading the front yard so that we can have a nice lawn and he also rotatilled this new area for me. It is about 20' x 40' and he fenced it all in for me to keep those wascally wabbits out.


There is not much going on in there yet . I normally start planting the warm weather veggies during the Memorial Day weekend. The average last frost date is May 20 so I usually wait till then. I did plant some cool weather veggies already. Here's the layout of my garden: There are 12 rows total. From the front near the flowers:
Rows 1 - 4: Corn and Potatoes
Row 5: Onions & Cabbage
Row 6 - 8: Tomatoes
Row 9: Jalapeno & Italian Pepperoncini
Row 10: Herbs(Basil, Parsley, Chives)
Row 11: Bok Choy, Chinese Cabbage, Eggplant
Row 12: Cucumbers, zuchinnis, winter squash
What I have already planted:
In the old garden area are: Mesclun Mix, Garlic, Strawberries, Radishes, Chives(I'm debating if I should transplant that out to the new garden or wait till the fall)
In the new garden area: Potatoes(Dark Red Norland & Yukon Gold), Onions(Yellow Stuttgatter), Cabbage, Bok Choy, Napa Cabbage, Parsley(transplanted from old garden).
My sleeping beauties! I was folding laundries one day and when I went to put them in the closet, I saw these two sound asleep on THEIR bed. What a life they have...

Siblings Are Forever!

I just had to show off how talented my scrapbooking-addict-sister is at her new hobby. I cried(at my desk at work) while reading all about this. I miss them very very much!

Golden Friday

Ok Daisy, here goes:


1) Our first friend is actually a family member. She is mom's sister Rebecca. She loves scrapbooking and she has an adorable daughter named Grace. Grace is very cute, we just want to lick her face and give her lots of kisses but they are far far away in Malaysia. Daisy, they are even farther than from you to Milo in Italy. The picture below is one of the scrapbooking page Rebecca made about Grace. Isn't she adorable?




2) Our next friend is this handsome German Shepherd Dog named Kane. Kane is an awesome and handsome dog. Mom loves him! Kane and his mom Lena practice and train in the working dog sport of Schutzhund. The picture below is them "in action". Please check out his blog: Schutzhund Adventures. Other than Schushund, Kane loves to "supervise" his mom when she is in her garden. You know who humans are, they always mess things up, we dogs need to make sure that they get their job done right!
