June Update

Thank you for your all your thoughts and concern for June. She is still on her prescription s/d diet and will be for another 2.5 weeks. She doesn't pee constantly anymore but will have to keep eating the food(and nothing else) but luckyly she finished her antibiotic 2 days ago.

She is kinda mad at us. We could tell by the looks she gave us. Her routine in the morning before I go to work is to get a milkbone. She would wait outside the closet(that's where we keep the bag of bones), howl(because that's what she normally does when she is getting a bone) and howl again. And howl some more and have a confused look on her face as of why we are not giving her any bones. Poor baby.

Friday morning hubby left the closet door open for a few minutes, well, remember what my little thief did before? She did it again! She probably thought "fine, if you are not going to give me my bones, I will just help myself to them!" Luckyly(unlucky for her) it is still unopen, so she didn't get any.

Is it Friday already? Wow, time sure flew by this week. You know what they say: "Time flies when you are having fun!" Speaking about fun, we have some camp pictures to show you.
This pass camping trip, mom and dad were kinda lazy. We got some walks but we didn't go hiking. Remember the hiking trip that we almost got lost and then we got some hamburgers? We didn't go this time, so no hamburgers for us. :(

Wordless Wednesday - Camping Edition

**Note: Some of you are wondering if Samantha went in the canoe. No, she did not. I have tried to get her to at least step in it, she won't. June didn't either.

Woof! June blogging today. Mom is still kinda busy to help us with camp photos, so you will have to stay tune a little longer.


I am a little confused lately. Mommy or daddy has not been giving me my yummy bones bones and the other day when they had my favorite food - spaghetti and meatballs, they didn't even give me some! NO FAIR! I haven't even been given my regular food either. Mommy has been feeding me this, which is actually quite tasty:

She also has been forcing me to take this yucky pill. I spit it out most of the time but she still managed to make me swallow it. I am NOT happy about it! Mom and dad kept saying "when you get better, you can have your bones". Get better what?


YD here, please allow me to explain this "suffering" that June was complaining about:
Last Monday June woke me up in the middle of the night wanting to go out. Now they don't normally have to go in the middle of the night unless it's a diarrhea situation. So I thought "great, she must have diarrhea". But when we went outside, she just kept going to pee, for at least 6 or 7 times. The next morning she did the same. So I called the vet asking if I should bring her in to check for UTI(Urinary Tract infection). They told me to just collect a urine sample and they would be able to find out.

Collect a urine sample? How? Well, I found a shallow take out container and used it to collect the sample and brought it to the vet. They found out that June's got lots of crystals in her urine. If you are not familair with this, please let me explain. Crystals are mineral deposits that form anywhere between the kidneys and the urethra, but most commonly in the bladder itself . These crystals, if left untreated, will form bladder stones. Bacterial infections in the bladder can also cause crystals to form. Therefore June is put on a strict diet and antibiotic. She can only eat this prescriped Hill's Prescription Diet: S/D canned food and NOTHING ELSE, for 6 weeks. That's why she's confused as of why we are not giving her any treats.
In another 2 weeks I'll have to take another urine sample for testing to see if the crystals clear up.

We Are Back!

Yes, we are back from camp! We had so much fun but we are glad to be back. Camping is always nice and very relaxing but at the same time, both hubby and I have a hard time sleeping, so although it's very relaxing mentally but physically it's very tiring due to lack of sleep.

So, back to the grind stone. Lots of catching up to do at work and lots of catching up to do in the blogging world.

I have been(oh ya, and the girls have also been) reading up some blogs but didn't get much time to comment. We hope to be back to "normal" by the end of the week. Please stay tune for pictures from camp!

Golden Friday - Labor Day Edition

Got Zucchini?

First thing first, today is my mom's birthday.

Got zucchini? Got apples? Make Zucchini Apple Bread!

Do you have so many zucchinis that your neighbors and friends and co-workers hide from you because you gave them way too many zucchinis? Well, I bet they won't hide from you with this Zucchini Apple Bread!

You know the 2 big holidays that we have coming up in November and December? I bet your friends will love you if you make them this Zucchini Apple Bread.

Ok, I guess you get the idea, here's my recipe for(everyone say it with me) -
Zucchini Apple Bread

Ingredients:
½ cups Canola Oil Or Melted Butter
¾ cups Sugar
2 whole Eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 cup Zucchini, Shredded
½ cups Homemade Apple Pie Filling Or Chopped Apple
1-½ cup All-purpose Flour
¾ teaspoons Baking Soda
¼ teaspoons Baking Powder
½ teaspoons Cinnamon
¼ teaspoons Ground Cloves
¼ teaspoons Nutmeg
½ teaspoons Salt
½ cups Chopped Nuts (optional)

Instructions:
1) Preheat oven to 350F. Generously grease the bottom and sides of a 9″ loaf pan.
2) In a large bowl, mix Canola oil, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Stir in shredded zucchini and apple.
3) In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg and salt. Add to zucchini mixture.
4) Fold in chopped nuts, if desired.
5) Pour into prepared loaf pan and bake for 45-50min or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool.

I do not have pictures for this, actually I did take some pictures but they came out too bright, so I have decided not to use them.
